Expertise · Microsoft Sentinel

Your tenant. Your logs. Our analysts.

We operate Microsoft Sentinel in your own Azure subscription: no copy on our side, no proprietary overlay, and rules in standard Azure format that your team can take over.

Your SOC tier

Your other sources can be connected to Sentinel, with SOAR and tailored investigations.

These figures describe Microsoft's platform, not our service. On the Microsoft security stack · Microsoft 365 required.

Inside your tenant: who does what

The platform runs on your side, on your logs. Microsoft keeps it running, we operate it, and your IT team stays in control.

  • Microsoft

    Runs the platform

Infrastructure, patching, availability. The 99.9% SLA covers the infrastructure, not incident handling.

  • DMC DEFENSE

    Operates the platform

Rule tuning, log triage, alert qualification. Incident handling time is our commitment, not Microsoft's.

  • You

    Stay in control

Your data stays in your tenant, in your region, with no copy on our side. We access it through delegated rights you can revoke.

What the platform handles

Six capabilities, described by what they do. This is about the tool, not our service.

Cloud-native collection
Logs from Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, servers and network equipment brought into a single workspace.
ML-assisted detection
Behavioural models surface deviations no static rule describes. They cut noise; they do not replace analysis.
Integrated SOAR
Playbooks trigger endpoint isolation, session revocation or ticket creation without leaving the tenant.
Native connectors
More than a hundred connectors maintained by Microsoft, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Defender, AWS and Google Cloud.
Threat intelligence
Sentinel draws on the signals Microsoft observes across its own estate.
Elastic capacity
Capacity follows ingested volume, with no servers to size. That is also what makes the bill proportional to the logs you collect.

None of these six capabilities produces a decision. They produce alerts, context and possible actions; qualification stays human. That is true of Sentinel as it is of any SIEM.

Why Microsoft Sentinel?

Because the telemetry that matters is already in the tenant, and moving it out costs more than analysing it there.

The SIEM market is not short of tools. What sets Sentinel apart is continuity: the data is already there, the analysis runs on Azure, and the response fires without leaving your ecosystem. The trade-off is real: that continuity ties you to Microsoft. We would rather state it before the contract than after.

Sentinel · Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for SIEM

Microsoft sits in the Leaders quadrant of the 2025 SIEM Magic Quadrant. That signals vendor solidity, not proof that the platform will be well operated at your site.

  • Running on Azure

No SIEM servers to size or patch. The 99.9% SLA covers the infrastructure; incident handling time is our commitment, not Microsoft's.

  • Continuity with Microsoft 365

Entra ID, Defender and Microsoft 365 feed Sentinel with no intermediate gateway. Outside that ecosystem, integration becomes a project in its own right.

  • Behavioural detection

Behavioural analytics baselines each account and flags the deviation. Effective on identity compromise, weaker against a genuinely novel vector.

What changes against a self-hosted SIEM

InfrastructureSelf-hosted SIEM:Servers to size and patchMicrosoft Sentinel:Managed service, no servers to operate
ScalingSelf-hosted SIEM:Add nodes, planned downtimeMicrosoft Sentinel:Follows ingested volume
Time to serviceSelf-hosted SIEM:Several weeksMicrosoft Sentinel:Days for Microsoft sources
MaintenanceSelf-hosted SIEM:Patching and operations on youMicrosoft Sentinel:Patching at Microsoft, rule tuning with us
Cost modelSelf-hosted SIEM:Licences and hardware up frontMicrosoft Sentinel:Billed on ingested volume

What the table does not say: volume-based billing makes log triage decisive. Badly tuned, it costs more than a perpetual licence. It is the first thing we work on, and we price ingestion before proposing a contract.

The platform does not watch itself

Sentinel produces alerts. Triage, qualification and response take a team. Here is ours, and what it commits to.

Our time commitments (detection, handling) are published on the SOC page: Discover the 24/7 SOC

  • Microsoft Partner

Partner status and declared security competencies. Verifiable directly with Microsoft.

  • Handovers recorded between teams

Watch passes from one team to the other without a gap. Every handover is recorded in the same incident log.

  • Microsoft certifications held within the team: architecture, security operations, Azure, identity and information protection. Certification numbers available on request.

  • The managed SOC is contracted separately from the Sentinel deployment. The Cyber Maturity Rating is included in the audit of your Microsoft 365: you know where you stand before committing to monitoring.

Your telemetry first, licences second

The free audit is enough to know whether Sentinel is the right choice for you, and to estimate the volume you would actually ingest.
